AUGUST 16, 2000 The Minnesota-Wisconsin Boundary Area Commission will send a report commenting on the negative enviromental impact of a proposed casino in Hudson, Wisconsin, to the Department of Interior. Three Ojibwe tribes are proposing a casino in Hudson, but face opposition from other gaming tribes and local groups. The Interior is holding a 30-day comment period on the casino. Only enviromental impact questions are allowed under the comment period, due to a settlement won by the Lac Courte Oreilles, Red Cliff, and Mole Lake Ojibwe bands. They had accused the Interior of acting improperly in denying their proposal in 1995. Get the Story:
