AUGUST 11, 2000

Residents of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, will vote on a casino proposal by the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe on September 12.

A casino, hotel, and water park could give $100 to the city and Outagamie County.

The tribe is also exploring other sites for its off-reservation casino. Some towns and villages have rejected the plan.

Voters in Kaukana recently held a protest at the city council chambers and presented 1,064 signatures on Monday against the casino.
