Wash. tribes oppose expansion of gaming

JULY 6, 2001 Several Washington tribes including the Muckleshoot Tribe are opposing the legalization of electronic card games at mini-casinos. The state Gambling Commission is set next week to consider whether tribal and mini-casinos can offer electronic games like blackjack. Non-tribal opponents say it will lead to full-scale Vegas-style gaming while tribes worry about competition. A bill has also been introduced to legalize the electronic games. Get the Story:
