JULY 13, 2000 The Lac du Flambeau Band of Ojibwe have approached yet another community in Wisconsin in hopes of finding a location for their casino. This time, its the city of Kaukauna, says the Appleton Post-Crescent. Mayor John Lambie confirmed they are discussing a plan to turn the city's old Fox Valley Greyhound Park into a casino. The Lac du Flambeau recently withdrew a casino proposal from the village of Ashwaubenon just as it was about to go before voters. Voters had gathered enough signatures to hold a referendum on the project after village officials, who initially expressed interest, turned the tribe down. The town of Exeter also rejected the tribe and voted to ban any casino in the future. Related Stories:
