The Village of Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin will hold a referendum on a casino proposal by the Lac du Flambeau Ojibwe on July 11. The Village Board had first supported the proposal but changed their mind after hearing opposition. Local residents organized and drew up a petition in support of having the proposal go before the voters.

The tribe has proposed to share $92.5 million over 20 years with the village and Brown County.
