Tax bill would benefit tribes

The Connecticut Senate on Wednesday passed a bill that exempts tribal busineses from paying taxes on certain transactions.

The bill applies to federally recognized tribes and businesses they own or control. It extends a pre-existing exemption for other businesses to tribal ones.

The House will consider the bill today.
