JUNE 21, 2000 The Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma shut down its Kiowa Grand Center gaming facility on Tuesday, due to a National Indian Gaming Commission order which cited operation of 28 Class III gaming machines without a state compact. Under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988, Class III gaming can only be operated if a tribe enters into a compact with a state. Get the Story:
