JUNE 19, 2001 "Putting the issue of the casino aside, I wish to address the idea of holding a referendum. It is a bad idea. Here's why. In any New London election only 1,500 to 2,000 people actually vote. The Eastern Pequots count some 325 members as New London residents. Assuming that each tribal family votes in favor of the proposal and each family brings two other friends or neighbors to vote, the measure passes easily. . ." Get the Story:
