JUNE 18, 2001

Lawmakers in Connecticut are still negotiating the state's fiscal year 2001 budget and they say towns nearest two tribal casinos might get extra money out of the deal.

The towns have wanted $10 million out a $30 million that casinos owned by the Mohegan Tribe and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation are expected to bring in. They say they are most impacted by the casinos and therefore need the money.
