JUNE 1, 2001

Leaders from communities in southeastern Connecticut on Thursday again lobbied the state's Republican lawmakers to give them more money from two tribal casinos.

The leaders said the meeting was productive but that no committment was made to support a proposal to give $10 million to the towns. The money would come from $30 million the expansion of casinos owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribe is expected to bring in to the state.
