Utah Indian population in poor areas

Most American Indians in Utah live in rural, economically depressed areas, acording to a Salt Lake Tribune analysis of Census 2000 data.

The percentage of Indians on or near reservations has largely stayed the same, with some increases, over the past 20 years. These areas have a unemployment rates above the state average of 3.9 percent.
