MAY 25, 2001 The Connecticut Legislature's Public Safety Committee on Thursday approved a bill to create new Office of State-Tribal Relations. The provision came at the expense of one which would have required the Governor to develop an "impact aid" package when negotiating gaming compacts with tribes. Towns located near the state's two casinos have been clamoring for the funds, seeking to be compensated for living next to tribes. Get the Story:
