MAY 10, 2001 The Colville Confederated Tribes are offering a bankrupt company $6 million for a 300-acre property so it can restart a veneer plant in Omak, Washington. The tribes want to employ 71 and sell electricity generated by burning wood waste at the mill. Estimates of output are 15 megawatts, or enough to heat about 13,500 homes. Okanogan County officials support the tribes' plan because it will bring jobs The site is located within reservation boundaries and the tribe is anxious to own the land again. Get the Story:
