Casino Omaha profits may disappear

Casino Omaha, run by the Omaha tribe of Nebraska, could see much of its profits depleted in years to come. The tribe's former operating partner Missouri River Services Inc., won a breach of contract suit against the tribe, stemming from a debate over the operation of a casino in Onawa, Iowa. The tribe and MRS initially partnered to open a casino on tribal land in Nebraska, which soon failed due to the changes brought about by the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) of 1988. MRS sued when the tribe decided to open its Iowa casino with another partner. MRS was awarded a $6.4 million judgement in federal court. The tribe's appeal in the 8th Circuit is pending and the tribe is seeking to have payment of the judgement award delayed until a ruling is final. Get the Story:
