Pueblo wants to reopen racetrack

MARCH 7, 2001 The New Mexico Pueblo of Pojoaque hopes to reopen a failed horse racing track they own near Santa Fe and hopes to bring slot machines into the mix. The property is not held in trust for the tribe and is about 20 minutes south of the Pueblo. But in 1997, the state legislature legalized slot machines at race tracks and a developer for the Pueblo said racing and slots are definitely in the works. The Pueblo's plan to reopen the track will go before Santa Fe County land use board Thursday. Get the Story:
