New slot formula devised

FEBRUARY 22, 2001 The Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments, representing 18 towns in the southeastern region of the state, on Wednesday devised a new formula to distribute money from two tribal casinos to municipalities most affected by them. An estimated $10 million will be available to the towns from the expansion of the casinos owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribe. Of that amount, they want 20 to go to the towns most affected by the casinos, 70 percent to go to all towns in the region, and 10 percent to regional projects. The state Legislature has to approve the formula. Get the Story:
