Bar owners say casinos above law

DECEMBER 11, 2000 Bar owners in Connecticut say there are separate sets of rules for the Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos when it comes to violations of state liquor law. While bar owners often get shut down for violating law, the casinos often just get fined. Foxwoods has been fined more than $200,000 since 1992 and Mohegan Sun has been fined almost $150,000 since 1996. The state and the tribes have an agreement on policing the casinos for liquor violations. The tribes pay the salaries of state-licensed liquor agents. Get the Story:
