NOVEMBER 17, 2000 Montie Deer, Chairman of the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC), on Thursday discussed proposed regulations to ensure environmental health and safety at tribal casinos nationwide. Deer talked about the issue at the annual conference of the National Convention of American Indians in St. Paul, Minneapolis. Most tribes have their own standards regarding while some adopt those of their state. But Deer said there needs to be adequate implementation and enforcement of safety codes and regulations.
