Potawatomi casino celebrated today

NOVEMBER 1, 2000 The $120 million casino of the Forest County Potawatomi Tribe of Wisconsin will be officially celebrated today in Milwaukee. Since winning the right to open a gaming facility in the city in the 1980s, the tribe has become more politically and economically successful. The tribe began construction on the new casino, which includes a 95-foot tower featuring a glowing torch, last year. The torch symbolizes that the tribe is the "keeper of the fire." Get the Story:
