JANUARY 10, 2000 Three Connecticut towns who have been critical of the impacts of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation's casino may get more money from the state if a new proposal is approved by the legislature. The Mashantucket Tribe and the Mohegan Tribe are installing new slot machines at their casinos. A proposal before the legislature would give one-third of new revenue from theses expansions to towns impacted by the casinos. Another proposal before lawmakers would give Preston, Ledyard, and North Stonington $500,000 a year from the new funds. The Mohegan Tribe gives the same amount yearly to the town of Montville.
