Anti-Indian ads defended

OCTOBER 24, 2000

An adviser to Donald Trump defended a series of ads depicting the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe as criminals by saying they are protected as free speech.

Roger Stone Jr. testified behind closed doors before the New York Lobbying Commision. Stone works as a lobbyist for Trump.

Trump and associates have agreed to pay a total of $250,000 in fines in connection with the ads and other anti-Indian gaming activities. But they say the fines are not admission of guilt on the alleged illegality of their activities.

They will also publicly apologize for the ads.
