THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2001

Tribal leaders in Arizona are voicing concerns that a Tucson race track has asked the state for permission to operate slot machines.

The race track industry is behind a lawsuit to stop gaming negotiations between the tribes and the state. Now, say tribal leaders, the request proves the tracks only wanted slots.

However, other race track interests say the Tucson request does not speak for all of them.
