Photo © ICT Relations between Indians and others have not always been rosy. Nowhere is this more apparent in Lakota country in South Dakota and northern Nebraska. Last year, several confrontations between Native Americans and the police at Whiteclay, NE put the spotlight on this region and brought in the US Commission on Civil Rights, whose recent report admitted conditions were disturbing.
