A New York attorney who once defended the Mohawk Warriors was indicted on Tuesday for allegedly helping pass terrorist messages among Islamic fundamentalists.

Lynne Stewart and three others are charged with helping Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman share messages with followers. Abdel Rahman, convicted in 1995 for plotting to blow up buildings in New York, is a client.

Stewart defended the Mohawk Warriors, who engaged in various confrontations with the Canadian government. Canada indicted Stanley Cohen, another lawyer who worked with the Mohawks, for conspiracy.
