FRIDAY, APRIL 5, 2002

A federal judge in New York will hear arguments next month about a round of land claims suits filed by the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin.

The tribe filed the suits after it was excluded from negotiations on a separate 250,000-acre claim. New York Gov. George Pataki (R) only dealt with Ray Halbritter, a representative of the New York Oneida.

U.S. District Judge Lawrence Kahn is presiding.
