More money sought for Pequot fight

FRIDAY, APRIL 5, 2002 The Connecticut town of North Stonington is seeking an additional $58,000 to fight the federal recognition of two Pequot tribes. The request is on top of $60,000 requested in the fiscal year 2002-03 budget. The town opposes the federal status of the Eastern Pequot Tribe and the Paucatuck Eastern Pequot Tribe. Assistant Secretary Neal McCaleb has been ordered to issue a final determination on the tribe in June. Get the Story:
