A Minnesota man has paid $4,000 in fines to the Red Lake Ojibwe Band for trespassing on the tribe's reservation.

Justin Fuhrer and his cousin illegally landed his plane on the reservation and began fishing on part of a lake closed to all but tribal members. He said it was a mistake, paid the fines and wrote a letter of apology to the tribe.

The tribe returned his plane last week but kept his fishing gear.
