The Department of Interior has been put on notice for a $37 million lawsuit over a Bureau of Indian Affairs employee involved in a deadly car crash.

Attorneys for a Nebraska couple killed in the New Mexico accident are filing the claim. Employee Gary Larson, who has a history of driving under the influence, is charged with second-degree murder for the January 25 accident.

The attorney for a second couple killed is considering filing a lawsuit.

Additionally, the Interior has received a $60,000 claim on a September 2000 crash involving an ex-employee whose license was suspended in New Mexico for drunk driving.
