THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2001 A Minnesota man was sentenced to 15 and one-half years in prison for the murder of the son of Prairie Island Mdewakanton Dakota President Audrey Kohnen. Julius W. Barker, 20, had pleaded guilty to unintentional second-degree murder for shooting Benjamin Bennett. Bennett was Kohnen's 19-year-old son. Barker and Bennett had been friends, according to Barker. Barker is eligible for release after serving 10 years and 4 months. Get the Story:
