AUGUST 7, 2000 Will Senator Joseph Lieberman attend the BIA's meeting this week concerning the federal recognition of the Eastern Pequot and Paucatuck Eastern Pequot Tribes in his home state of Connecticut? The answer will be revealed. Tomorrow perhaps; as of now, it is unknown at this time if Al Gore's newly chosen running mate will attend. But members of his staff are expected to attend the two-day meeting which begins tomorrow as is one state lawmaker, Representative Robert Simmons of Stonington Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who requested the meeting, said it could help if the state decides to sue the BIA over the decisions first extended in late March.
