Pequot Tribe appeals to Indian Country

THURSDAY, AUGUST 30, 2001 In a letter published in this week's issue of Indian Country Today, the chairwoman of the Eastern Pequot Tribe of Connecticut calls on tribal leaders to support her tribe's attempt to gain federal recognition. Marcia Flowers criticizes Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and the leaders of three towns for the campaign they've waged against her tribe. She called on tribal leaders to support efforts by the National Congress of American Indians and the Native American Rights Fund on federal recognition. Get the Story:
