The Anchorage District Atttorneys' office is recommending sentencing against the white male who attacked Alaska Natives with a paint-ball gun in January.

The office wants Charles Wiseman, 20, to serve jail time and perform 1,500 hours of community service for the incident, which he videotaped. His brother and another white teenager, both juveniles, have been implicated in the attack but their status is not public.

Wiseman has pleaded guilty to a lesser misdemeanor assault charge. When he is sentenced on August 31, he will be allowed to claim he did not make racist statements that have been recorded on tape.

Members of the public, including Alaska Native groups, have been writing to the office about his upcoming sentencing.
