AUGUST 1, 2000 Documents owned by the town of Montville regarding the federal recognition of the Mohegan Tribe are the subject of a query both by a local resident and a town councilor. Edward Daigle was allowed by Mayor Howard Beetham to remove the documents. But the town is now allowed to release public documents until the town lawyer first reviewing them. Council Chairman Joseph W. Jaskiewicz wants the town attorney to speed up his review of the documents. The documents were bought by the town from the Bureau of Indian Affairs for about $10,000.
