Yakama Nation bans alcohol ads

JULY 6, 2001 The Yakama Nation of Washington last month passed a resolution banning alcohol ads on tribal land. The resolution is a companion to one which bans the sale of liquor on the 1.2 million-acre reservation. The US Attorney in Washington, however, says the ban only applies to liquor stores and bars on Indian-owned land. The tribe is hoping to show why a number of non-Indian owned bars should come under the ban. Get the Story:
