Court to consider reservation accident case

FRIDAY, JULY 13, 2001 A three judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals next week will hear a case involving an accident which occurred on the Crow Reservation in Montana. A tribal court and a federal judge have each dismissed the lawsuit filed by Heather Long Warrior. Each have ruled it has no jurisdiction to hear the case. The accident happened within the boundaries of the reservation but on a right-of-way. The Supreme Court has limited tribal authority over rights of way, resuling in the tribal dismissal.
