JULY 13, 2000 Former White Earth Chairman John Buckanaga and Tribal Council member Ralph Goodman tried to give themselves severance pay but were stopped short after current tribal officials discovered their plans. At a council meeting in which two members out of 5 were not invited, Buckanaga was given approval for a $45,000 severance pay package and Goodman a $16,000 package. Both were ousted in elections in June. Get the Story:
