The Oneida Nation and the counties of Madison and Oneida in New York will appear in US District Court in Syracuse on Friday to discuss their positions on their stalled settlement talks. Judge Neal McCurn have given both sides, which includes the Oneida Nations of New York, Wisconsin, and Canada, until Friday to say whether or not they will go to court to enforce a ruling favoring the Oneida Nation's land claims against the state.

The judge will issue a 60 day extension on talks if the sides have shown progress. Otherwise, he will declare an impasse and begin a trial, forcing the issue of the addition of 20,000 landowners to a lawsuit, a move requested by the Oneida of New York and supported by the US Department of Justice.
