Cowlitz want millions for Quinault appeal

JUNE 26, 2000 The Cowlitz Tribe will file an appeal with the Department of Interior Board of Indian Appeals, asking that the Quinault Nation post a bond to secure their challenge to the Cowlitz's federal recognition. The Quinault Nation filed an appeal the day before the Cowlitz were to officially receive recognition. The Cowlitz say the appeal has jeopardized the tribe's economic future. A lawyer for the tribe said the amount would be in the millions. Get the Story:
