ADVANCE: Lake ownership upheld

JUNE 18, 2001 The Supreme Court by a vote 5 to 4 has upheld the ownership of the southern third of Lake Coeur d'Alene in Idaho to the United States in trust for the Coeur d'Alene Tribe. The ruling affirms two lower court rulings. Justice David Souter delivered the opinion of the Court, whose decision was split along conservative-liberal lines with Justice Sandra Day O'Connor casting the swing vote. Get the Decision Idaho v.
