JUNE 15, 2000

A proposal to ban non-Indian cattle grazing on the Colville Reservation in Washington will not be on the ballot on Saturday due to a lawsuit pending in tribal court over the measure.

Tribal Councilman Lou Stone filed a lawsuit against tribal Chairwoman Colleen Cawston and Vice Chairwoman Jeanne Jerred of improperly allowing the council to remove the referendum.

Four districts on the reservation have elections on Saturday
