Benewah County wants to raise the speed limit on the St. Joe River, but they'll have to deal with objections by the Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho first. A federal appeals court on Tuesday upheld their ownership over the southern third of the river and the southern third of Lake Couer.

Tribal and local law enforcement officials say raising the limit from 35mph to 50mph is unsafe.
