Teens strip searched on D.C. jail tour

MAY 24, 2001 Corrections officials at a jail in Washington, DC, strip-searched as many as five teens last Thursday who were taken there as part of a "scared straight" tour. Department of Corrections Odie Washington said he is "appalled" that the teens underwent such treatment, which the FBI is investigating. Washington has suspended all jail tours as a result. One student involved told the Washington Post he stripped to his boxers and socks in front of other students, corrections officers, and a teacher. A corrections officer then stripped him nude, he said. Get the Story:
