MAY 24, 2000 The Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma and the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma will host a repatriation summit next month. Tribal leaders from across the country will attend the Native American Repatriation Summit on June 8 and June 9, in hopes of establishing common goals to prevent the exploitation of ancestral remains and sacred property. The Native American Graves and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) of 1990 is designed to help tribes and Native Americans repatriate human remains and other cultural property. For more information on the conference, call (580) 436-2603, ext. 7508. Relevant Links:
