James A. Cunha Jr., Chairman of the Paucatuck Eastern Pequot tribe, said an anti-Pequot forum being held tonight by three Connecticut towns is unfair because no tribal leaders were not invited.

The towns of Ledyard, North Stonington and Preston will hold a meeting tonight to discuss their efforts opposing the federal recognition of the Eastern Pequot and Paucatuck Eastern Pequot tribes. The two tribes received preliminary federal recognition from the BIA in March.

The towns are also opposing the expansion of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in a lawsuit against the Department of the Interior.

A North Stonington selectman denied Cunha's claims and said tribal leaders have been invited to the event.
