MAY 12, 2000 Two Montana Senators are seeking money to help reservations in the Plains. Senator Max Baucus wants the US Housing and Urban Development to issue a $500,000 grant for Indian housing projects in Montana, Minnesota and North Dakota. The Fort Peck, Northern Cheyenne, Rocky Boy and Fort Belknap reservations in Montana would get 68 houses from the Malmstrom Air Force Base. Senator Conrad Burns is seeking $5 million for adult education programs at tribal colleges through an amendment to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Get the Story:
