MAY 11, 2000 The Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) is looking for new offices. Their current lease expires next year. After a lengthy meeting on Tuesday night, OHA turned down a $426,876 grant for the Native Hawaiian Convention. The Convention is working on Hawaiian sovereignty models and wanted the grant for an educational outreach program. Opponents said a state-sponsored effort could threaten sovereignty efforts at the international level. Get the Story:
