President George W. Bush on Tuesday announced his intention to nominate an attorney who would be overseeing the government's defense of the trust fund lawsuit.

Tom Sansonetti is being considered for Assistant Attorney General position in the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the Department of Justice. This position is the lead attorney for the Departments of Interior and Energy and the Environmental Protection Administration.

The division is currently representing the government in the billion-dollar trust fund Cobell v. Norton lawsuit.

Sansonetti is a lawyer with the Cheyenne, Wyoming, office of Holland and Hart. Bill Myers, whom Bush wants to nominate for Solicitor of Interior, is employed at the Boise, Idaho, office of the same law firm.

Samsonetti's bio says he is experienced in Indian law, minerals law, and mineral royalty disputes.
