APRIL 3, 2001 Two bills related to Indian issues advanced in the Connecticut Legislature on Tuesday. A bill to move the Indian Affairs Council from the state Department of Environmental Protection to the Office of Policy and Management within the Governor's office was sent to the House floor. The OPM has resisted the move. A bill to redesignate the fourth Friday in September as Native Americans Day was also sent to the House floor. The day was first created in 1941 but somehow, it has not been observed. Get the Story:
