Trial against Pequot Tribe begins

APRIL 26, 2001 The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court on Wednesday began hearing arguments in a case of a former employee who claims the Connecticut tribe fired him unfairly. Walter Fletcher says he was fired only after tribal officials discovered he was writing a fictionalized manuscript about the tribe. The manuscript doesn't place the tribe in a favorable light, apparently. The tribe said it was firing Fletcher, the ex-husband of a tribal member, because of sexual harrassment allegations. A tribal official testified yesterday those were never investigated. Fletcher wants at least $2 million. Get the Story:
