Too many cooks in the kitchen may spoil the pot, but for Clara Nomee, the conflict over who gets to handle her case has helped her hold onto power of the Crow tribe. The suit five tribal members brought against Nomee, calling for her permanent resignation as Chair was dismissed yesterday by Judge James Yellowtail. The plaintiffs boycotted the proceedings, calling the hearing a "kangaroo court." They filed yet another lawsuit calling for the removal of Nomee, whose conviction of theft against the tribe has left tribal members divided over the legality of the tribe's judicial system. Donald Stewart, the judge who initiated the temporary injunction, had his job threatened, said Nomee opponents.
